Leuven by night
Leuven nightlife: how to do a night out like a local
Leuven is a student city through and through, and its nightlife lives in a few square kilometres. The heart of it is the Oude Markt, a square lined with bars that locals call the longest bar in Europe. Here's how to make the most of a night out — or let us show you.
Public crawl: €25 per ticket · 4 bars, 4 shots · Ladeuzeplein, 21:00
The Oude Markt
The square in the old centre where Leuven goes out. Terraces in summer, packed bars in winter and a crowd of students, locals and visitors every night of the week. It's where every Fonske Crawl ends.
When to go out
Leuven runs on the student calendar. During term time, weeknights can be busier than you'd expect, and the evening starts late — most bars only really fill up after 22:00.
Skip the guesswork
Don't know where to start? The Fonske Crawl takes you to four bars with a local host and a shot at every stop, and finishes on the Oude Markt. It's the easiest way to meet people if you're new in town, on Erasmus or just visiting.
On every Fonske Crawl
- Meet at Ladeuzeplein at 21:00
- A local host who knows the route
- 4 bars, a shot at every stop
- Finale on the Oude Markt
- Alcohol-free version available
